History
The musician and director Matthew Mehlan Skeletons founded as a solo project in 2001. During the following years he gathered a large number of musicians under various project names around and has since published eight studio albums.
Style
In their music process Skeletons elements of free jazz, avant-garde pop and similar styles. About the album "Money" about Henrik Drüner wrote in the Journal Intro:
"For the album" Money, " Skeletons fifth and the premiere on Tomlab, overused conventional listening experiences. Singing confusion, brass attack, rumble drums, and more utensils provide in their mix for part-time irritation. In " a.k.a. Ripper The Pillows " are overdriven trumpets on rhino hunting, in the background clatter countless recording tracks to prevent clarity. "
In previous work the band released the album " People" is considered to be most accessible work. Andreas Hofmann wrote on Baby Blue Pages:
" The too irritating moments of the other albums are missing on " People " or take a pleasant defused without the still kinda weird nested songs losing their sharpness. This time told Mehlan especially ( wahre! ) stories and manages thereby to unblock even the crudest compositions. "
