Skënder Hyseni

Skënder Hyseni ( born February 17, 1955 in Podujeva, Kosovo ) is a Kosovar politician former Foreign Minister of the Republic of Kosovo Albanian ethnicity.

Skënder Hyseni studied until 1978 English at the University of Pristina. He then completed short-term studies on the Bloomsburg State College (Pennsylvania, USA) and the University of Aberdeen ( United Kingdom).

Hysenis political career began with the founding of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK ). After the election, Ibrahim Rugova as President of the unilaterally proclaimed Republic of Kosovo, he worked in the bar and became one of his closest advisors. Hyseni was a member of the Kosovar delegation at the negotiations of the Yugoslav leadership on the Treaty of Rambouillet, on the eve of the Kosovo war. After the death of Rugova 2006 Hyseni also worked for his successor Fatmir Sejdiu. At all negotiations on the future status of Kosovo, he was involved. In the parliamentary elections on 17 November 2007, he was first elected to Parliament and became a Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, member of the Kosovo government. On 3 April 2008 he took over the post of Foreign Minister to 22 February 2011.

Skënder Hyseni is board member of the governing party and chairman of the LDK LDK Foreign Affairs Committee, and a member of the Kosovo Constitutional Commission. He is married and has four children.
