Skidegate Channel

Geographical location

The Skidegate Channel ( German " Skidegate Channel ") is a 50 km long strait in the Canadian Haida Gwaii archipelago off the west coast of British Columbia. It separates the two main islands of the archipelago, Graham Iceland in the North and in the South Moresby Iceland and connects the Hecate Strait in the east to the Pacific Ocean in the west. At its narrowest point ( 53 ° 9 ' 7 " N, 132 ° 17' 0 " W53.151877777778 - 132.28336111111 ), the Skidegate Channel a width of only about 25 meters.

Named the strait, according to the Haida community of Skidegate on the southeast coast of Graham Iceland. Between Skidegate and Alliford Bay on Moresby Iceland a ferry crosses the Skidegate Channel.
