Å koda 10 T

The Škoda 10T is a low-floor tram car of Škoda Transportation sro. It is the bi-directional version of the Škoda 03T, which is in several Czech cities in use.

The vehicle has a tripartite and four axles, all axles are driven. The low-floor area is 50%. The vehicle has on each side three doors with them only one each in the floating, low-floor center section ( entry height of 350 mm above the rail ) is located.

History

The car was developed, as was the Škoda 03T, by the Czech company Škoda Transportation sro and the Inekon group. Electrical components such as rectifiers and control systems originate from the Austrian ELIN EBG Traction. It was produced by Škoda in Plzeň, while Inekon to marketing and shipping care.

The first ordered in 2000 from Portland, Oregon for the newly opened Portland Streetcar system.

2001 ended the cooperation between Škoda Transportation sro and the Inekon group, although 2002 cars were still to Portland and now delivered to Tacoma, Washington.

Škoda now also includes the 10T, while Inekon ( podnik DPO, Dopravní Ostrava ) is a cooperation with the transport company of the city of Ostrava came in and since then a slightly modified version under the name 12 Trio builds. Three such vehicles have been delivered to Portland in 2007.

Locations

In the years 2000 to 2002, a total of ten vehicles were produced in Škoda Plzeň, these are only available in the U.S. in use.

United Streetcar 100

In August 2006, the American company Oregon Iron Works closed headquartered in Portland an agreement with Škoda Transportation sro to build the vehicles under license in the U.S. is allowed. Up to this time there was in the United States is no manufacturer of modern streetcar vehicles, the transport company had to buy their rolling stock abroad. This was not possible funding by federal funds ( Buy America Act ). Consequently, the company United Streetcar, LCC was founded.

In 2009 came the first, built in the USA for 60 years tram vehicle with the type designation United Streetcar 100 to Portland, this is largely based on the Škoda 10T, but includes, among other things, a modified front end. The components come to 70% of American companies, thus meeting the conditions of the Buy America Act are met. Some components such as the drive system, continue to come from Škoda Transportation.

An order of six other vehicles for 20 million U.S. dollars was signed in August 2009.
