Skomer

Skomer is one of several small islands that lie along the coast of Pembrokeshire in Wales. The 3-km ² island of Skomer lies in the southwest of the county and east of Bird Island Grass Holm.
Fauna and Flora
Skomer is known for its large bird population. Breed here and live mainly Manx shearwaters, guillemots, cormorants, gulls, puffins, storm petrels and some birds of prey. An endemic disease on the island in Manx shearwaters, which occurs every year in August and September, led to the discovery of Puffinosis coronavirus.
In 2000, rats that lived on the island, killed, since those terrible impact on bird populations, but especially the puffins impact.
In addition, the island is a home to many gray seals and a variety of wildflowers.
History
The island was inhabited throughout the year to 1958. She is also known for its stone circles and menhirs, which speak for an early settlement of the island.
Tourism
Excursion boats run towards Skomer daily. The number of visitors per day is limited.
