Sky Andrew

Skylet Andrew ( born March 31, 1962 in Upton Park London ) is an English table tennis player who was active in the 1980s and 1990s. In English championships he won 14 titles, with the English team, he was Vice European Champion 1988.

Career

Skylet Andrews father was a bus driver and his mother worked in a bakery.

The national English championships, he was a total of 14 times in the doubles and mixed competitions successfully:

  • Double: 1987, 1988, 1989, 1991, 1993, 1994 with Nicky Mason
  • Mixed: 1984 Carol Moore, 1986, 1987, 1988, 1990, 1992 by Fiona Elliott, 1993, 1994 by Fiona Mommessin

In individual he did not win a title.

From 1985 to 1991 Skylet Andrew was nominated four times for participating in world championships. He never came near of medal ranks. In 1988 he reached the final, which was lost against Sweden in the Table Tennis European Championship with the England team.

In the same year he qualified for the Summer Olympics, where he already was eliminated in the opening act in a double with Desmond Douglas. He was more successful in subsequent years at the Commonwealth Championships. He won gold in 1989, 1991 and 1994 with the English team, and in 1989 in a double with Nicky Mason. In 1989 he won silver in mixed doubles with Fiona Elliott, also in 1991 with Mason in doubles. In individual he reached the semi-finals in 1991.

After the European Championship 1994, he finished his career as a table tennis player. He then worked as a football players' agent ( football agent ).

In 1997 he joined the German Regionalliga club TTG Weitmar - Munscheid.
