Sky City 1000

Sky City 1000 is a possible future project of an urban city as a possible solution of the ever-growing footprint in Tokyo.

The project is a 1,000 meters high and 400 meters wide at the base of the building with an area of eight square kilometers. The designs presented in 1989 by the Takenaka Corporation can accommodate 36,000 residents and 100,000 jobs. The building will include homes, offices, shops, schools and theaters.

The project is very seriously pursued. Experiments were performed with Tokyo's fire helicopter to simulate the dangers of fire in this amount. Also, three -storey elevators that can carry up to 70 people tested in experiments.

The project will be compared to similar like X-Seed 4000, Norman Foster's Millennium Tower, Paolo Soleris arcology or Le Corbusier's Radiant City given greater opportunities to be realized.
