Sky Doll

Sky Doll is a comic book series by Alessandro Barbucci and Barbara Canepa. Religion and fantasy, as well as the power of the media are the most important elements of the story.

The plot is set in a fictional parallel universe to the planet Papathea with its capital Johanna from which dominates the young and power-hungry Päpstin Lodovica that made overthrow her sister Agape many years ago, the galaxy with the help of a huge media and police apparatus and the believers with staged "miracles" impressed. The main character is Noa, a so-called Sky Doll, a life-sized, fairly loose Clockwork, who works at a car wash with the name Heaven and one day meets the papal missionaries Yahu and Roy, and with their help escapes God before their tyrannical employer. It accompanies the thoughtful, naive Roy and the grim Yahu on their missions and throughout history it is clear that it is not at Noa to an ordinary robot and there is a connection to the deposed Pope agape.

The main character Noa stands out because of their naivety and their good will and tries to meet the grimmest figures friendly. Although they always must accept disappointments on their way, she draws ever new hope.

Publication

So far, three volumes, as well as the sketches band Doll 's Factory, published by Carlsen Comics in German. The end of 2009 Sky Doll Spaceship Collection 01 was released by the Splitter Verlag, 2010 followed by the second volume. Both volumes include short stories around the Skydoll universe, illustrated mostly by other international artists as Canepa and Barbucci.
