Skye Edwards

Skye Edwards ( born May 1, 1974 as Shirley Klarisse Yonavive Edwards in South East London ) is a British singer. She was a founding member and the lead singer of the trip-hop band Morcheeba, from which it separated in 2004 and to which it was back in 2010. In the meantime, she pursued a solo career and released in 2006 under the stage name Skye her first solo CD. The name Skye is composed of the first letter of their first name and their last name.

Edwards is married to musician Steve Gordon and mother of three children.

Career as a musician

Skye Edwards belonged since the formation of Morcheeba in 1995 to the basic formation of the band. In April 2004, the brothers Paul and Ross Godfrey of Skye parted. In this time of her career also fall collaboration with David Byrne (Album Feelings, 1997) and their interests in two charity CDs, Perfect Day in favor of BBC Children in Need (1997) and Band Aid 20 in favor of the needy in Darfur ( 2004).

Their debut album Mind How You Go, for which she collaborated with the producer Pat Leonard, Daniel Lanois and Gary Clark, was published in February 2006 by Atlantic Records UK. The music on this album is not far from the trip-hop music produced by Morcheeba. The most successful single from the album it was Love Show ( she was also, inter alia, in the 13th episode of the third season of the series Grey's Anatomy used as the final music). That same year, their cover version appeared by Feel Good Inc. by the Gorillaz. From the live collaboration with the French Nouvelle Vague music project from 2007 2008 two pieces emerged on the album Hollywood, Mon Amour. She interpreted it, Call Me by Blondie and A View to a Kill by Duran Duran with very reduced instrumental accompaniment in the style of singer- songwriters. End of October 2009 her second solo album Keeping Secrets was released on their own label Skyewards Recordings.

In February 2010, the Godfrey brothers and Edwards announced that they have reunited and are working together on a new Morcheeba album. The album Blood Like Lemonade was released in mid- June 2010.

In September 2012, the first single released Featherlight to Skye's third solo album Back To Now. The album was released on October 29, 2012.
