Slavuta

Slawuta (Ukrainian and Russian Славута; Polish Slawuta ) is a town in Ukraine. The city is located about 98 kilometers north of the Oblasthauptstadt Khmelnytsky on the river Horyn.

The town was first mentioned in writing in 1633 and has been heavily influenced by the Polish noble family Sanguszko, they had erected a large castle in the town. 1873 north of the town, the railway Sdolbuniw - Shepetivka (now part of the railway line Kovel - Kosjatyn ) opened Slawuta got a station on this route. 1938 was the place then also awarded the city status. The large Jewish population was completely sold or extinguished during the Second World War.
