Sleep Dirt is an instrumental fusion album by Frank Zappa, released in 1979 on vinyl. The album was reissued on CD in 1991, while Zappa had three pieces ( Flambay, Spider of Destiny and Time Is Money ) supplemented with vocals, the Thana Harris had sung. The lyrics were already originally provided, but were not initially realized and belong to the pre- 1972 designed and unfinished musical Hunchentoot.

Zappa was with his record company Warner Brothers in litigation, while the album was released. Zappa therefore could not influence the shape of the publication. He was selected with the Warner Brothers album title and the cover, the Gary Panter was designed not agree. Originally, the album Hot Rats III would have to be called, a reference to his first fusion album Hot Rats and its subsequent follow-up album Waka / Jawaka, which was also known as Hot Rats II.
