Slider (parachuting)

The slider ( slider dtsch or Öffnungsverzögerer ) is a rectangular piece of cloth ( parachute material with reinforced edges ) of approximately 50 x 30 cm size, which is used in the parachute jump. At the ends of the flap are four ( the tandem glider six) metal eyelets ( grommets ) attached, through which run the lines of the parachute canopy. At the opening of the parachute slips the slider, slowed by the air, away from the cap down to the Springer back. Thus, the canopy can be filled only gradually with air. The opening is slowed down and opens less abruptly, so pleasant for the skydivers.
