Slim Harpo

Slim Harpo (actually James Moore, born January 11, 1924 in Lobdel, Louisiana, † January 31, 1970 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana) was an American blues musician, a virtuoso on the harmonica. As an orphan had to Slim Harpo work early hard. After the war he began in the clubs of Baton Rouge as " Harmonica Slim" occur. Later, he accompanied his brother- Lightnin 'Slim, both in the studio and at gigs.

In 1957 he had his first own recordings. His debut single was a mix of I'm A King Bee and I Got Love If You Want it. Influenced by Jimmy Reed Slim Harpo brought out a number of hits, including Rainin ' In My Heart (1961 ), I Love The Life I Live, Buzzin ' (instrumental), Little Queen Bee (1964) and Baby Scratch My Back ( 1966). Slim Harpo Hits I'm A King Bee and Shake Your Hips ( 1966) were later taken up by the Rolling Stones. Other groups that took up the title of Slim Harpo, were the Pretty Things, the Yardbirds and Them.

Slim Harpo was never a full-time musician. In the 1960s he had his own transport company. He died in 1970 of a heart attack. In 1985, he was inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame, in 2004, was followed by the album Raining in my Heart.
