Slime flux

As mucus flow or flow of milk leakage of sap from the wounds of trees is called. These are often for fresh wounds that are not yet überwallt or broken again. The phenomenon is often observed in hornbeam. The sap comes out especially during the growing season.

Of juice secreted is populated by various bacteria and yeasts. This may cause a certain coloring of the liquid. In the case of a red tint one speaks of red slime flux.

Although the mucus flow can appear quite threatening, measures for the treatment are not absolutely necessary, because this is not a direct damage to the tree.
