Slipknot is the debut album by the American nu-metal band Slipknot. The album was released on 29 June 1999 by Roadrunner Records. It reached number 51 on the Billboard 200

Formation

After the band in 1996 DemoMate. Feed. Kill. Repeat. had published and reached first attention at record companies, they wrote with new singer Corey Taylor to more songs. As of September 1998 began the recording of the debut album in Malibu, California, where the band had gone from her home in Des Moines Iowa. The end of 1998, guitarist Josh Brainard, the band, who had by then recorded the songs. In February 1999, the filming continued with James Root. Slipknot also created the identity of the 0-8 numbered band members, as well as in the performances with which they earned a first fan base, worn masks. The album was the first album on Roadrunner platinum status. As singles were in the same year Wait and Bleed and Spit It Out coupled to which there was also music videos, as well in France as a promo single Surfacing.

Reception

Rick Anderson of Allmusic gave the album four out of five stars and the award " AMG Album Pick". He raised the hardness of the album, this is completely different from bands like Limp Bizkit, and "non- citable " the texts produced. Sonja Lattwesen by Rock Hard magazine wrote that " damn loud background noise " of the album make " growing like a cafe where the spoon stands vertically ". She played on stylistic influences from Thrash Metal, Death Metal, Industrial Metal, Hardcore punk, rap and dub and awarded eight out of ten.
