The Sloughi is a recognized by the FCI breed of dog from Morocco (FCI Group 10, Section 3, Standard No. 188).

Origin and History

The Sloughi breed is a very old dog breed wind from North Africa, which is classed as oriental greyhounds. Dogs of this type have been shown to more than three thousand year old Egyptian wall reliefs. Even earlier evidence of smooth -haired, lop-eared hounds come from the heyday of the Mesopotamian empire. Also on ancient historical mosaics of North Africa, from the time of Christ's birth, sand-colored, black and brindle greyhounds were presented in the hunt for African game. Description

Diseases
