Slovene literature
The Slovenian literature is written in the Slovene language literature. It begins with the Freising monuments ( Brižinski spomeniki ) around the year 1000., The first books in Slovene were printed in 1550.
Significant representatives of Slovenian literature Prešeren (1800-1849) and Ivan Cankar ( 1876-1918 ).

Literature in Slovenian
First header text
The earliest written in a dialect of Slovenian documents are the Freising Manuscripts ( Brižinski spomeniki ) dating 972-1022, and 1803 were found in Freising, Germany. It is the oldest Slavic text, which was written in Latin script.
Together with the handwriting of Rateče ( held in Klagenfurt, also: Ratchet Acher handwriting or Klagenfurt manuscript ) ( cf. St. Thomas Church, Rateče / dt Ratschach. ), The Cividale del Friuli manuscript and the Sitticher handwriting (even Ljubljana manuscript, see also monastery parakeet ) they are the oldest documents of Slovenian culture in its original form.

First printed books
The first printed books in Slovene were the catechism in the language and the Windish Abecedarium, written by the Protestant reformers Trubar (1508-1586) in 1550 and printed in Tübingen, Germany. The translation of the Bible by Jurij Dalmatians into Slovene was published in 1584. In the second half of the 16th century, Slovene was the other European languages better known by compiled by Hieronymus Megiser multilingual dictionary.
