Slovenia in the Eurovision Song Contest
This article deals with the history of Slovenia as a participant in the Euro Vision Song Contest.
Participation and success in competition
Slovenia adopted for the first time in 1993 as an independent country at the Euro Vision Song Contest. Because of a bad placement, the country had to stop in 1994. 1995 succeeded Darya Švajger to reach seventh place in the following years, Slovenia has ranked in the top ten only in 1997 and therefore had to stop again in 2000. 2001 repeated Nuša Derenda seventh place, a better result could not be achieved since then. Since 2004, it only managed two posts in the final round of the 15th Place and in 2011 reached the 13th place in 2007. Overall, ended only four of the 13 participation - that is, less than a third - in the front half of the table, which Slovenia is one of the less successful countries at the competition. In 2013, Slovenia missed the whole eighth time since the introduction of the semi-finals finals; so that the country now shares with Bulgaria and the Netherlands, the negative record for the most common failure in the semifinals.
Participation before 1993
Before 1993 Slovenia took part in indirectly as a constituent republic of Yugoslavia in the competition. This six Yugoslav posts from Slovenian TV station Ljubljana total found.

National preliminary decisions
All Slovenian contributions of a preliminary decision were (up to 2013) selected in the frame, which takes place annually under the title EMA. In general, the preliminary round was held with a number of participants 12 to 17 in one night. 2001 and 2002 semi-finals took place before the national finals, 2004, there were four semi-final rounds and 2007, two semi-final rounds.

Controversy over the vote was 2006: With a weight of 1/3 each decided by a jury, all callers by phone and all votes via SMS. Saša Lendero received the most telephone and SMS votes, but not a single point by the jury. Languages
Up to and including 1998, all Slovene contributions were presented in accordance with the rules in Slovenian. While in 1999, sung with lyrics in English in 2001 and again in 2003 and 2004, but since then was 2002, 2005, 2007, 2008, 2010 and 2012 resorted back to the local language. 2009 was the participants titles with little text, but both Slovenian and English. The contribution in 2014 is first sung in Slovenian half in English and half.
