Slovenian Railway Museum

The Railway Museum Ljubljana ( Slovenski železniški Muzej) is the national railway museum of Slovenia and owned by the Slovenian Railways. It is located near the former station Šiška Ljubljana.

History

The realization that document the history of the Slovenian Railways, was in the 1960's more and more clear than was foreseeable that the era of steam locomotives would be drawing to a close.

Initially, the museum was housed in the former locomotive shed in Ljubljana Siska.

1996, the 150th year of the Slovenian railways, the most important exhibits of the public were presented.

Cars and locomotives

The main pieces of railroad rolling stock are you, especially the steam locomotives, of which the museum has more than 60 pieces and also 50 other cars. The oldest locomotive is the former Southern Railway locomotive No. 29 718 ( a sister locomotive GKB 671 ), which was built in 1861; the smallest is no K3, 1892 for the narrow gauge local railway Pöltschach - Gonobitz ( Poljčane - Konjice ) had been built ( a sister locomotive traveling at Stainzer Flascherlzug in Styria). Others

In addition to the rolling stock and cards are shown which illustrate the development of the Slovenian railways. Show uniforms, as the staff was dressed. In addition, many smaller items from the railway everyday life are shown.
