Slyudyanka, Slyudyansky District, Irkutsk Oblast

Slyudiyanka (Russian Слюдянка ) is a city in Irkutsk Oblast (Russia) with 18,574 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010 ).

Geography

The city is situated on the southern shore of Lake Baikal, north of the Khamar Daban, about 125 km south of the Oblasthauptstadt Irkutsk.

The city is the administrative center of the Slyudiyanka Rajons same name.

Slyudiyanka is located on the Trans -Siberian Railway. Here are the two stations Slyudiyanka -II ( 5306 km route from Moscow branch of the ancient Baikal Railway ) and Slyudiyanka -I ( km 5311 ). In addition, the city lies on the highway M55 Irkutsk - Chita.

History
