The Town of Smelser is one of 33 Towns in Grant County in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. In 2010, the Town of Smelser 794 inhabitants.

Geography

The Town of Smelser is located in southwest Wisconsin, about 20 kilometers west of the Mississippi River, which forms the border with Iowa. The border with Illinois is located approximately 15 km south. In the extreme southeast of the Town partially covers the small town of Cuba City, although not belonging to the Town.

Traffic

The Wisconsin State Highway 80 runs north -south through the Town of Smelser. Through the south runs in east-west direction of the County Highway H. All other roads are minor roads or partly unpaved roadways.

With the Platteville Municipal Airport is located a few hundred meters behind the north-eastern boundary of the Town, a small airfield. The nearest major airport is Dane County Regional Airport in Madison Wisconsin's capital ( 130 km east-northeast ).
