Sømna

Sømna is a Norwegian municipality. The center of the municipality is the village of Vik. The name probably comes from the old Sømna word sveifn ( engl. the place where you turn around ), and refers to the narrow harbor space.

Population

Most people are in the field of agriculture, forestry, and fishing employed. The arable land area is 29 km ². The municipality is the largest dairy in Northern Norway. The second largest group of employees is in the public administration.

Others

In Vesta mountain of probably the oldest shoe in Norway was found. The leather shoe was probably written about 300 BC and is located in the Science Museum in Trondheim.
