Smush Parker
William Henry Parker ( born June 1, 1981 in Brooklyn, New York City ) is an American professional basketball player. He plays for the Guangdong Southern Tigers in the Chinese Basketball Association.
Childhood
Parker began early with the basketball playing at. He gained some notoriety through his games on the also ' The Cage ' ( engl. "cage" ) called basketball courts in the West Fourth Street in Manhattan. He earned nicknames such as: NBA Live, Grim Reaper (English " Grim Reaper " ) or The Aviator (English " the flier ").
The nickname Smush was actually the nickname of his father. His mother, who died when he was 8 years old, gave him this name.
High School
Later he attended Newtown High School in Elmhurst, Queens. Parker was on anhhieb the star of the basketball team.
College
1999-2000, in his first year of college, he attended the College of Southern Idaho. The following year he moved to Fordham University, New York City. During his time at Fordham University, he won several awards such as: Second Team All A-10 and NABC Second Team All- Region. In his last season he scored in an average of 35 minutes 16.5 points, 4.4 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 2.3 steals. In college, Parker played mostly on the shooting guard position, but then switched to starting his professional career as a player at the point guard position.
Pro career
In 2002, Parker left the university and signed up for the NBA Draft 2002. He was not drafted, but got a contract offer for over a year by the Cleveland Cavaliers which he accepted. After that season, he moved to Greece Aris Thessaloniki where he ran aground very successful. In 2004 he returned to the NBA and signed a one-year contract with the Detroit Pistons. After he started the 2005/06 season with the Phoenix Suns, he changed over the course of the season to the Los Angeles Lakers. A great success for him was that he came into the Starting Five of the Lakers, although none had expected. It went to the opener against the Denver Nuggets. Parker did not disappoint his coach Phil Jackson and made in four of his five games of 20 points. In the 2005-2006 season, Smush Parker started 82 times and scored 11.5 points and 3.7 assists per game. During the last two games of the 2006/07 season and the playoffs, he lost his starting position to rookie Jordan Farmar. On 26 July 2007 he signed a contract with the Miami Heat. His stats deteriorated dramatically. He scored only 4.8 points per game, which was below average compared to his 11.5 points for the Lakers. On 10 March 2008 he was released by the Heat ( see Private ). On 12 March 2008, Parker signed with the Los Angeles Clippers a contract until the end of the season. Since then, he could not build on the achievements that he taught the Lakers. Currently, he plays in the Chinese Basketball League, with moderate success.
Private
William Henry Parker is said to have first woman beaten after an argument at about $ 12 parking fees in 2008. She parked his car and then demanded this. Parker had allegedly injured her left arm, which is why the woman filed a lawsuit. The case was investigated by the Miami police. The prosecutor even planned a lawsuit against Parker. Because of these incidents Smush Parker was briefly on leave from the Miami Heat without payment. On 10 March 2008 he was released by the Heat.
