SN 1572 ( B Cassiopeiae, B Cas ) was published on November 11, 1572 in the constellation Cassiopeia galactic supernova. It reached a brightness of -4 mag. SN 1572 was discovered by Tycho Brahe. He also coined the term "Nova" (from Latin stella nova, " new star " ), because he thought she was a new star. This first observation of a supernova of European astronomers had shown that the fixed stars are not immutable.
