Snakeboard

A Snakeboard or Street Board is a further development of the skateboard, the roots are more likely to find while surfing and snowboarding.

In contrast to the rigid Skateboard Snake is a board of three segments that can rotate against each other. At the front and the rear segment is in each case an axis of the running wheels. The driver's feet are on the axes on the end segments, which can be twisted into a sort of " steering movement " towards the middle segment. By the feet are rotated rhythmically with each other and apart again and supportive rotational movements are performed simultaneously with the upper body, the board takes to ride. Without the feet touch the ground, then relatively high speeds may be achieved. For special animation techniques separate bonds are available, in which the driver puts his feet. Current boards have wooden decks and are ideal for freestyle skating.

History

The Snake board was invented in 1988 in Johannesburg, South Africa. Three college students James Fisher, Oliver McLeod -Smith and Simon King were looking for a new type of board to ride on steep roads like the surfing and snowboarding curves. The deceleration should work as well. Their first design, the Ursnakeboard, was called " wobble board ". This first board consisted of a water pipe as a connecting piece ( " bar ") between the foot plates ( " Plates", which in turn were sawed pieces a table tennis) and served as an axis sawn apart roller skates.

At the same time the company age Kate and TomTom also developed Streetboards. As Fisher and McLeod -Smith patented the motion and basic structure, age Kate had to stop production. The two South Africans founded the company Snakeboard. Marketing difficulties drove the company in the late 1990s into bankruptcy. The patents and naming rights were acquired by the British toy manufacturer "MV -Sports ", the company was sold in early 2000, " Toll Collect " and also produced again.

The early 2000s, acquired the American company dimension Streetboards the patent to Streetboards ( snakeboards ) to produce. This was the beginning of "From Riders for Riders " companies that were founded by former pro riders.
