SNCB Class 16

The NMBS / SNCB - row 16 is an electrical design series of the Belgian State Railways.

The locomotives total of eight in 1966 identified as Class 160 in service multi-system locomotives, that is, they were designed for the marketing of several current systems, with 1.5 kV and 3 kV DC and 25 kV 50 Hz and 15 kV 16, 7 Hz AC. Thus they could be used in addition in Belgium and in France, the Netherlands and Germany. This gave them primarily use on international trains running long-distance trains. Meanwhile, the vehicles have been replaced on international relations by more modern locomotives and Thalys trainsets and were last used domestically.

On 26 March 2010, the last remaining vehicles were retired. The locomotives with numbers 1602 and 1608 are preserved in museums.
