SNCF Class BB 16500

The BB 16500 (also called Danseuses ) is a French electric locomotive class, built from 1958 to 1964. A total of 294 locomotives of this type were purchased by the Société nationale des chemins de fer français ( SNCF).

History

The locomotive was the late 1950s and early 1960s needed for the electrification wave which started in the north and east with the 25.000V - Einphasenstromsystem to have enough electric vehicles.

This locomotive series is the first of the great series of "BB Alsthom ". These were called because they tend to falter even Danseuses. They are, however, but is weaker than the subsequent series with the power 2940 kW 2580 kW. It also differs in the car body of the followers, so it lacks for example the typical " hump " on the roof between the current collectors. But she does not distinguish itself in the construction of the chassis and the bogie. Related with it are the 46 BB 8500, BB 105 17000, 13 BB and 194 BB 20200 25500th

Technical Features

The BB 8500 series has a switchable gear at a standstill with two translation stages. This made it possible to increase the traction force at the expense of speed. In the position freight train 90 km / h are (now certified for 100 km / h) and in the position passenger train 140 km / h can be achieved.

The car body is 13.618 meters long, and the length over buffers is 14.4 meters. The pivot point distance is 8.5 meters and the bogie axles have a distance of 1608 mm, giving a total wheelbase of 9,108 meters. All wheels have a nominal diameter of 1100 mm. Each bogie has a single drive motor (mono motor bogie ) which drives a transmission, both axles. The motors are those of the type TAO 646 A1. Both engines are zwangsventiliert and have at 1100 volts with a rated current of 1250 amps.

The two pantographs, the construction type AM 11 & are distributed symmetrically on the 3,584 -meter car roof. The contact strips of the two current collectors are spaced apart a distance of 8.4 meters, with the two current collectors, the middle joint of the box facing the mid.

Conversions

The number 16540 in 1959 rebuilt the prototype BB 20004. This was to try out the two-stream equipment. He is the direct predecessor of the BB 20200 and BB 25500th you in 1969 returned to normal.

The number 16655 was shipped with a three -axle bogie and taken as a prototype CC 10002 in operation. It was normalized in 1970.

Use

The locomotives were all taken out of service 2002-2011.
