SNCF Class BB 22200

The BB 22200 is a French electric locomotive class for use both on the electrified at 1.5 kV DC network SNCF and on the electrified at 25 kV 50 Hz AC mains supply. In the years 1976 to 1986 a total of 205 locomotives were built by Alsthom in six model series.

The locomotives have the typical French locomotives of the 1960s and 1970s front shape of the designer Paul Arzens, the nez casse ( " broken nose " ) is called. It was first realized in the machines of the series 40100 CC and was also used in the Gleichstromloks the BB 7200 series and the Wechselstromloks the BB 15000 series for use with which form the BB 22200 series a family. From the locomotive with number 22227 the front window in favor of a more spacious cab was performed less steep.

History

In the 1970s, the SNCF needed new multi-system locomotives to pass under two -phase systems without changing locomotives can. From the Series BB 15000 and in 1976 built DC Series BB 7200 that were delivered from 1971, BB 22200 was developed as a multi- variant system. The series designation is the sum of those of the two sister types.

Use

Due to the multi-system capability and the interpretation as a universal locomotive BB 22200 are found on nearly all standard-gauge electrified lines in France and for all the locomotive-hauled train types use.

Withdrawals from service

By 2011, left five locomotives for an injury from the use of inventory. In January 2012, 18 serviceable locomotives were retired because they were no longer needed due to decline in freight traffic for the first time. In addition, approximately 60 locomotives were turned off at this time.

Variants and conversions

Shuttle train

To the stringing of 47 locomotives pull trains (April 2012) were from 2006 so far a time-multiplex shuttle train ( called short MUX at SNCF ) retrofitted.

Versuchsloks

The as BB 22379 and 22380 provided locomotives were delivered in 1986, already from the factory as test vehicles for AC synchronous drive. They wore as Versuchsloks the numbers BB 20011 and BB 20012 and special finish in gray / blue / orange. The experiments with these locomotives contributed significantly to the development of the BB 26000 series " SYBIC " at. After the end of the test applications were adjusted until the spring of 1994, the production version of the BB 22200 and received at the same time the equipment as Tunnelloks ( see next section).

Tunnelloks

Since the commissioning of the new locomotives of the CC 92000 delayed, we adapted in 1994, the locomotive BB 22379, 22380 and 22399-22405 for use in the Euro Tunnel. According to the British regulations, the stems were marked with a yellow paint. The use took place in the double header. Five locomotives were equipped with the train control system TVM 430 and could therefore be used at the Zugspitze, the locomotive BB 22400, 22402 and 22404 had to be always used in second place without TVM 430. The inserts in the Channel Tunnel lasted 15 months.

Express locomotives

Eight locomotives were equipped for use on high-speed lines with high-speed bogies and the signal transmission system Voie -Machine ( TVM). You can reach a top speed of 200 km / h Meanwhile include these locomotives (BB 22378, 22379, 22380, 22386, 22399, 22401, 22403 and 22405 ) to SNCF Infra and the French high-speed lines are to study and maintenance used.
