SNCF Class CC 6500

The CC 6500 was a French electric locomotive class for use on the DC network SNCF. When it enters service in 1969, she was the most powerful locomotive in the French national railway and approved for a maximum speed of 200 km / hr.

The locomotives have the typical for the 1960s and 70s design, the so-called " nez casse " ( broken nose ) of the Parisian designer Paul Arzens, the CC 40100 CC and 72000 was applied already in the machines of the series.

The CC 6500 began her prestigious career in front of the most important features of France, among other numerous TEE trains (Le Mistral, Capitole or l' Aquitaine). Soon she was used due to their high tensile and heavy freight trains.

On 1 July 2007, the last aircraft of this type were - after they had been in previous years used only before regional trains - withdrawn from circulation.

Whereabouts

The CC 6503 is seen in the Augsburg Railway Park. CC 6572 is at the Railway Museum Mulhouse.
