SNCF TGV Iris 320

As TGV Iris 320 the French state railway SNCF means a vehicle used as a measuring TGV trainset. The ten-part multiple unit used in particular for regular review of the French high-speed lines. It runs it at speeds of up to 320 km / h and therefore bears his name.

Construction

The trainset is scheduled formed of two power cars and eight intermediate cars of TGV Réseau.

The first intermediate car corresponds to the so-called Melusine, a TGV test car used since 1988. In the second and third car control systems are housed. The fourth and fifth car takes on a bar and reception rooms for guests. The three other cars take on ten of the first class compartments and a kitchen; the establishment of a lounge area for a dozen people is planned. The train is also a shower is installed.

About 150 sensors, as well as about 20 cameras are installed at the trainset. The Zugteam is made up of two drivers and seven engineers and technicians.

History

Since 1988, the SNCF used for test drives on the high-speed lines to Melusine, a trolley, which was classified into regular TGV trains. 2002, the decision to develop a test train for high-speed traffic, which can be used without affecting the rest of the traffic to test drives fell should.

2003, the TGV Réseau unit was placed 4530 out of the regular service and was in operation until 2006 Hellemmes work the necessary changes.

Operation

The vehicle comes by the week, alternately, on conventional and high-speed lines are used. Since the maximum speed of the vehicle with 320 km / h corresponds to the maximum of the French high-speed lines, the trainset can make test runs in the current TGV operation without slowing down other traffic. In addition to the French and the Belgian network may be busy.

Among other things, the track position, the mutual influence of track and vehicle, signal systems, the continuity of the power supply, the pressure effects when trains and in tunnels are measured.

The measuring devices are located at both ends of the train and in the middle of the drive train. The analysis of the obtained data is done on the train in real time. Disturbances at the track can be localized with an accuracy of five meters.
