SNECMA Atar

The SNECMA Atar is a single-shaft turbojet engine of the French manufacturer SNECMA. The first engine Atar 101 was developed 1945-1947 under the direction of Hermann Östrich based on the BMW 018 and is provided with an axial compressor such as this and an axial turbine. It can be equipped with an afterburner. Atar stands for the 1945 launched Atelier de Aéronautique Rickenbach, an interim research facility in Lindau - Rickenbach on Lake Constance.

Atar 101

Basic version with a seven -stage compressor and single-stage turbine, as it was used in the Dassault Super Mystere. Several variants were prepared.

Atar 8

Engine with two-stage turbine and compressor improved, but without afterburner. The development took place 1954-1956. The engine Atar 8B was used in the Dassault Étendard IV. The variant Atar 8K -50 was a simplified version of the Atar 9K -50 for the Dassault Super Étendard

Atar 9

Engine with two-stage compressor and turbine neunstufigem with afterburner. The Atar 9C was used in the Dassault Mirage III and 5. The variant Atar 9K -10 with improved combustion chambers and turbine blade cooling was installed in the Dassault Mirage IV. The Atar 9K -50 is a further improved Atar 9C with a revised supercharger and a newly developed turbine. It was used in F1 and the Dassault Mirage Mirage 50.
