Snecma

Snecma is a French company that specializes in drives for the aerospace industry. Snecma is an acronym for Société nationale d' études et de constructions de moteurs d'aviation ( National Society for the Study and design of aircraft engines ). In May 2005, Snecma and French company Sagem also joined Safran headquartered in Paris.

Snecma is the leading French manufacturer in the field of drive systems for aircraft and missiles. The Snecma portfolio goes from small piston motor through jet engines up to Ariane booster engines. The company serves here both the civilian and military market.

Using various partnerships with other manufacturers, such as General Electric, Snecma is involved in many popular engines. At CFM International, the manufacturer of the widely used CFM56 engine, Snecma holds 50 percent. The engine Olympus 593, which was built in collaboration between Snecma and Rolls- Royce, found its use in the Concorde.
