Snezhnogorsk, Krasnoyarsk Krai
Sneschnogorsk (Russian Снежногорск ) is an urban-type settlement in Krasnoyarsk in Siberia (Russia) with 887 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010 ).
Geographical location
Sneschnogorsk located at the outflow of the west to the Yenisei River flowing Chantaika from the Chantaika Reservoir in from there to the West Siberian Plain sloping hills. The settlement is part of the urban district of Norilsk. The distance to Norilsk in the north is about 160 km.
History
Sneschnogorsk was founded in 1963 as a settlement for the construction workers of the village located at the main dam of the reservoir hydropower plant Ust- Chantaika. Since 2004 Sneschnogorsk belongs administratively to the city circle Norilsk.
