Snot (band)

Snot is an American Hardcore-/Nu-Metal-Band from Santa Barbara, California.

Band History

Was Snot in summer 1994 by Lynn Strait ( frontman, vocals), Mike Doling (guitar), " Ruben " (bass) and " Brent " ( drums) (from " Ruben " and " Brent " are just the first names unknown). They began their career with concerts summer festivals, but the bass player " Ruben " left the band after the summer of 1995. He was replaced by John Fahnestock, which remained in the band until the dissolution in 1998. A little later came another member exchange: Drummer " Brent " was thrown out of the band, since, according to Lynn Strait he " was a spoiled rich kid only, which only played in a band to be cool ." He was replaced by " Cornfed " ( also not a complete name known), which, however, was in turn replaced in 1996 by Jamie Miller. Only after this last member changes the band structure remained stable for a long time.

The band procured with a mixture of aggressive hardcore punk, metal and nu metal early recognition and so they got a record deal in 1996 with the label Geffen and published in 1997, their first album Get Some.

The band structure obtained after the successful first album in turn cracks, so that Sonny Mayo in May and Jamie Miller in August 1998 left the band. They were replaced by Mike Smith ( guitar) and Shannon Larkin (drums).

In the autumn of 1998 began Snot record another album in the studio. Before this, however, was done, frontman Lynn Strait had a fatal accident in which his dog and band mascot, the boxer Dobbs died in Los Angeles. Since the rest of the band found them pointless to maintain the band without Lynn, is Snot disbanded in late 1998.

In 2000, the catch gave big names in the studio in the hand to the last incomplete ( vocals by Lynn Strait missing) album by the band to vervöllständigen and so made ​​the tribute album Strait Up, which is dedicated to Lynn Strait. On the album the vocal part of the different tracks from, among others, Jonathan Davis ( Korn), Fred Durst ( Limp Bizkit ), Brandon Boyd ( Incubus ), Corey Taylor ( Slipknot ), Serj Tankian (System of a Down ), Max Cavalera ( Soulfly ) and Lajon Witherspoon ( Sevendust ) sung.

In 2002, a live album titled Alive was released, at which also the track Pick What? is included. This was the last track, the Lynn Strait could still tentatively give a vocal part before his death.

Mid-2008 decided Snot recording a new album and brought the former Divine Heresy singer Tommy Vext on board. Currently working on her second studio album Snot
