Snow Leopard award

The snow leopard Medal (Russian Снежный барс / Sneschny bars ) was a Soviet award for outstanding climber who had conquered all five located on the territory of the former USSR seven thousand meters peaks. The climber price will continue to be recognized and continued by the CIS countries.

The Pamir Mountains are three snow leopards Summit:

  • Pik Ismoil Somoni ( 7495 m high, formerly " Communism Peak " ) and
  • Pik Korschenewskaja ( 7105 m high), both in Tajikistan and
  • Of Lenin Peak ( 7134 m high) at the Kyrgyz- Tajik border.

In the Tianshan are two more: Dschengisch Tschokusu ( 7439 m, formerly " Pik Pobedy " ) at the Kyrgyz- Chinese border and the Khan Tengri ( 7010 m high) at the Kyrgyz- Kazakh border. The latter is only by its ice cap just over 7000 m high, geological ranges of the rock only to 6995 m altitude. Nevertheless, the mountain is recognized as seven thousand.
