Lerwahuhn ( Lerwa lerwa )

Lerwahühner ( Lerwa ) are a genus of the family of pheasant -like. They are closely related to the red grouse. To this genus is one of only one type, the Lerwahuhn ( Lerwa lerwa ).

Lerwahühner Chickens are birds with short rounded wings and a powerful beak. Their legs are short and stocky. Cocks are armed with a spur. They inhabit the Himalayas of Kashmir and Garhwal to Tibet as well as some high mountains in China. For males and females, as well as the top of the head and neck show a tight black and white banding. The underside is maroon. Beak and legs are similar to the Chukar of coral color.

Lerwahühner are rugged craggy rock formations with grass mats and talus slopes at an altitude between 2,900 and 5,500 meters to find. Their plumage is their habitat so well adapted that they are optically rare to discover and conspicuous only by their alarm calls.
