History

The IOC decided in 1995 the inclusion of sport in the Olympic Games. This was associated within the sport with great criticism from the driver, as the responsibility for the qualification of the FIS was transferred, although the sport for several years with the International Snowboarding Federation had its own association. The FIS began excluding the ISF with its own series and established new rules, which were adjusted to those of the skiers. The at the time internationally successful rider Terje Håkonsen then refused from participating in the Games in Nagano in 1998. In 2011, the FIS and the Ticket to Ride World Snowboard Tour in conflict because of the new discipline introduced slopestyle. The TTR had integrated this discipline in the competition calendar, years before, yet the IOC of the FIS was again the jurisdiction, although the association was able to show very little experience here. A proposal on a common qualification series with the FIS refused the IOC.
