SnowCastle of Kemi

The Snow Castle of Kemi (Finnish Kemin Lumilinna ) is the largest built of snow castle in the world. It is used as an ice hotel and with changing architecture in Kemi, Finland, erected every year in winter.

Facts

The first snow castle visited in 1996 more than 300,000 visitors. The size varied from 13,000 to 20,000 m², the tallest tower was 20 meters high and the longest wall over 1 km long. In the complex there is one restaurant, a hotel and a chapel. Thanks to effective co-operation with the Finnish Evangelical Lutheran Church marriages are possible in the Snow Hotel. The corresponding wedding celebrations can be aligned in the restaurant and bar area, the property also includes a honeymoon suite.
