Soap Opera Digest Awards

The Soap Opera Digest Award is a U.S. television price of the program magazine Soap Opera Digest.

History

The prize was first awarded in 1984. Predecessor of this award were the less expensive Soapy Awards, which have been awarded since 1977.

The Soap Opera Digest Award aims to elect good acting performances by acting in the soap opera actors. The vote the winner is from the magazine's readers.

The first broadcast on U.S. television was in 1984. It was presented by David Hasselhoff and his then- wife Catherine Hickland.

In the first two years of the winners as well as the nominees were chosen by the readers. This meant that the soap opera Days of Our Lives in almost all categories all cleared away. From the third year onwards, therefore, took over the editorship of the journal the nomination.

In the years 2002 and 2004, no awards were presented.

Statue
