Sobotovice

Sobotovice ( German Sobotowitz ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located 16 kilometers south of the center of Brno and belongs to Okres Brno- venkov.

Geography

Sobotovice located in the Thaya Schwarza valley floor on both sides of the creek Syrůvka ( Kressbach ) just before its confluence with the Satava ( Vießbach ). West of the village leads the expressway R 52 / E 461 over the next exit 17 is located at Ledce.

Neighboring towns are Syrovice in the north, and Rajhrad Holasice in the northeast, Vojkovice in the east, Ledce and Na Podhrázkém in the south, Medlov and Němčičky in the southwest, and Pravlov Bratčice in the west and Silůvky in the northwest.

History

Archaeological finds in the municipality have a settlement after since the Neolithic period. The first written mention of Sobotovice took place in 1258 in one of Přemysl Otakar II confirmed in Pletzk exchange contract between Bohuslav from Get stone and the Breunauer Abbot Martin, in the former the village against the estates of the recently desolate fallen Fixed Sebranice the Benedictine Order for the Monastery Raigern left. In the years 1872 and 1881 Sobotice was damaged by another fire. 1875 a one-class village school was opened in Sobotice. Sobotovice lay on the Czech- German language border and belonged to the Czech language area. Started school were the children from the German village Laatz, the language of instruction was German.
