Sochaux

Sochaux [ soʃo ] is a commune with 4027 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) in the department of Doubs ( Franche-Comte region ). Important neighboring cities are Montbéliard and Belfort.

Sochaux is known as the site of the largest automobile factory Peugeot with approximately 16,000 employees (as of 2005 ), by the first division football club FC Sochaux and the Musee de l' Aventure Peugeot.

Geography

Sochaux is located at 317 m to 398 m, between the Jura Mountains and the mountains of the Vosges, in the so-called Burgundian Gate, a broad valley between the towns of Belfort Montbéliard. The only 2.17 km ² large municipality is overbuilt almost exclusively today, especially taking the factory site of Peugeot a weighty part of its territory a.

Sochaux is best known for its football club, FC Sochaux, who plays in the French League, Ligue 1. The " work club" of the automaker Peugeot was founded in 1928, the Stade Auguste Bonal - (formerly Stade de la Forge ) was built in 1931 in the immediate vicinity of the factory, . it holds 20,000 spectators today.
