Social Alliance

Alianza Social ( short form: "AS" ) is a political party in Bolivia, which was regionally established in 2004 by the indigenous politician René Joaquino and extended in February 2006 to the entire country.

The basis for the extension of the party at the state level, the great success of Joaquino as mayor of Potosí, where he could win up to 65 percent of the voters for his election program. The Alianza Social policy is close to the other parties of the political left wing, as the Partido Socialista (PS ) and the Movimiento al Socialismo (MAS ) of Bolivia's President Evo Morales. After his resignation as mayor Joaquino could unite in the presidential election of 2009, about 2.3 percent of the electorate votes, so that the Alianza Social is represented by two seats in the parliament.
