Social Democratic Front (Ghana)

The Social Democratic Front ( SDF abbreviation ) was a social-democratic political party in Ghana during the third Republic, situated between 1979 and 1981.

History

The party was founded on January 1, 1979.

In the presidential elections in 1979, Alhaji Ibrahim Mahama ran for chairman of the SDF and achieved 3.72 percent of the vote ( 66,445 votes ). The SDF scored 3 of the total of 140 seats in the elections to the National Assembly ( National Assembley ). The party was during the elections the nickname SDF- The Party of Labour ( Labour Party ).
