Socialist emulation

The Socialist competition was a method to develop the initiative of the masses of the working people in the socialist countries.

In the GDR, he was supported by the Federation of Trade Unions fdgb, represented by the company union line ( BGL) in any operating or authority. The competition program was adopted by the General Assembly of the union shop stewards at the beginning of each plan year.

Competition goals were particular:

  • Further increase the quality of products,
  • Improved efficiency of the Basic Fund,
  • Improve the economy of material,
  • Rational use of labor-power,
  • Highly effective realization of investments,
  • Production of high-quality consumer goods,
  • Systematic improvement of working conditions,
  • Improvement of order, security and discipline in the operation.

The majority of collectives that competed for the title of honor or the annual defense of the title "Collective of Socialist Labor ," there was additional obligations under the cultural and educational plan. Practical significance had the cash rewards, which applied to non-political working people as an effective financial incentive for the successful fulfillment of plans and targeted overbidding.

To be complied with were the Leninist principles of socialist competition: public, comparability / measurability and repeatability.

A competitive method in the field of road transport in the GDR from 1955 to 1960 was the " 100 - 000er movement." The aim was " the work of the requirement for the maximum exploitation of the transport space by careful handling of vehicles and fuel-efficient material usage ". For achievement of company-specific objectives (eg reducing empty, fuel consumption, tire wear ) there were bonuses for all employees of a collective.
