Societas Sanctae Birgittae

The Societas Sanctae Birgittae (SSB ) is an association of men and women in the Church of Sweden, which wants to serve in worship of Saint Bridget and her successor in the holy, catholic and apostolic church in Sweden.

The SSB was founded in 1920 as a sanctuary for all who have desire in a time of liturgical and theological impoverishment for a richer worship, a more inward piety and a Bible-believing preaching in the Church of Sweden.

The SSB examines these issues through their work for a continuous renewal of communion and design of the prayer life of individuals and communities to realize. Furthermore, the SSB is working to ensure that the proclamation and teaching is increasingly characterized by faithfulness to God's Word and the Lutheran confession and that the individual confession comes more and more into use.

The SSB has about 200 members (men and women) and hold an annual general chapter to be July 23, the day of the home path of the Saint Bridget, usually in Vadstena. A convention will be held three times a year at various locations in the country in general. In addition, SSB acts as a community of prayer, in which the brothers and sisters is thought in daily chapel services.

The SSB is one of their clergy as Confessor (head ) and one of the sisters passed as mother superior.
