Société des Artistes Français

The Société des artistes français, short SAF, is a 1881 founded in Paris professional association of French visual artist. He presents today the works of its members in an annual art exhibition, the Salon des Artistes Français.

When William -Adolphe Bouguereau in 1890 suggested that one should devote the salon young, not yet established artists, it came to secession from established greats such as Ernest Meissonier, Puvis de Chavannes and Auguste Rodin. They founded the Société Nationale des Beaux -Arts, which also hosted a salon, the Salon de la Société Nationale des Beaux -Arts called shortly Salon du Champ -de- Mars, as distinguished from the Salon des Artistes Français, the Salon des Champs- Élysées.

President

First President of the Association was the architect Antoine- Nicolas Louis Bailly ( 1810-1892 ). In 2013, the Board rendered this office of architect and painter Martine Delaleuf.
