Society for Sedimentary Geology

The Society for Sedimentary Geology ( SEPM ) is an international non-profit organization for sedimentology, stratigraphy, paleontology, marine geology, hydrogeology, environmental science and related disciplines, based in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The acronym SEPM comes from the former name of the Society of Economic Paleontologists and society Mineralogists (founded in 1926).

One of the founders was Raymond C. Moore, whose president was 1928.

Enter the journals Journal of Sedimentary Research (JSR ) and PALAIOS out, publishing a series of Special Publications and have a newsletter The Sedimentary Record. The company organizes workshops and conferences and awards several prizes. Your prize is the William H. Twenhofel Medal of Paleontology and the Raymond C. Moore Medal for Paleontology. In addition, it has awarded the Francis P. Shepard Medal for Marine Geology, Francis J. Pettijohn Medal for Sedimentology and James Lee Wilson Award for Young Scientists in sedimentology. There is also an honorary membership and a Distinguished Service Award for members.
