Society of Independent Artists

Marcel Duchamp was one of the founders of the Society of Independent Artists in 1916 resulting Inc. History

The chairman was William Glackens, who had also been involved in organizing the Armory Show. The first and largest exhibition, called the Big Show, with 2125 works from 1200 artists was opened in New York at the Grand Central Palace at 20 West 31st Street on April 10, 1917.
