Socket 1

The base 1 is a processor socket for the Intel i486 processors. It was originally intended as a base for " Overdrive" processors from Intel, however, developed a standard socket for i486 motherboards. Intel just i486 " Overdrive" processors are designed, the Pentium OverDrive needed a newer base, at least the successor base 2

The base is backwards compatible with the precursor base 486, which had 168 contacts.
