Socket S1

The base S1 is a processor socket for AMD processors Turion 64, Turion 64 X2 and Turion X2 series.

With the socket S1 AMD introduced the DDR2 memory interface for modules with speeds up to PC2 -6400 (DDR2- 800 memory chips) and the support of virtualization technology, AMD -V. It should support at a later date also DDR3 memory controller.

The processors for this socket were first produced in 90nm process, the start of sales of processors in 65 nm technology took place in spring 2007.

In addition, AMD processors are sold in 45 - nm process from the end of 2009, these are M3xx II X2, Turion II Sempron sold as M1xx, Athlon X2 and Turion II X2 Ultra m5xx.

The socket S1 is the successor to the base 754 in the mobile space.
